The Institute of Polymers - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IP BAS) performs fundamental and applied research, as well as training, in the priority scientific fields of modern polymer science.

IP BAS is co-founder of CEEPN, an informal association of polymer institutes and groups of national academies of science from eight countries. Since 2014 it is member of EERA.

Laboratory „Conjugated polymers“ (LCP) is carrying out research in the field of solid polymer electrolytes for fuel cell membranes and has extensive experience in the implementation of international science-applied projects, including the EU FP, as well as direct collaborations with industry. The main activity is aimed at developing new solid polymeric membranes for fuel and electrolyzer cells with polymer membrane, including low / medium and high temperature membranes with improved mechanical properties and increased ionic conductivity.
